    In November 2025, VCC calculated Calgary's Living Wage as $26.50/hr. A living wage reflects the amount an individual needs to earn to afford a modest standard of living.

    Minimum wage debate: Alberta remains lowest with B.C. set to increase

    Dani DeBoice with Vibrant Communities Calgary says wages simply aren’t keeping pace with the rising cost of living. “Right now, Calgary’s living wage for 2025 was $26.50 an hour, that’s 77 per cent higher than Alberta’s minimum wage,” DeBoice said. “We know that earning a living wage can be the difference between getting by and truly living."
